Hi folks. I realize that this question is as about as old as The Flintstones, but I thought it'd be nice to get a little discussion going. So, what do you think might happen if JFK had survived his Dallas assassination attempt?

If JFK survived 22 Nov. 1963? That's a good question... Domestically, it would have a big impact on the 1964 elections: odds are, given the historical info in OTL, 64' woulda' seen JFK vs. Goldwater but w/Terry Sanford as VP instead of LBJ; consequently, LBJ might've decided to return to the Senate, which could set up a couple of butterflies in Texas politics. Assuming JFK serves a full term, that puts up the possibility of Terry Sanford vs. Richard Nixon vs. George Wallace for President. On the foreign policy front, JFK serving his first full term (assuming he's reelected to serve a second term) means, in all likelihood, a shorter U.S. involvement in Vietnam. On the other hand, it might also mean a greater use of diplomacy to achieve his foreign policy goals, which could have a knock-on effect of lessening the chances that America goes to war during that decade...

Like the movie "A boy and his dog" I see the 60's - 70's presidential situation as Kennedy, Kennedy, Kennedy. Unless the American public lost some of it's JFK, RFK infatuation there's probably nothing the opposition could do, nobody they could nominate that would have a reasonable chance. JFK, according to one British historian, would "not have got sucked into Viet Nam the way that Johnson did." And I believe this to be true. Take Nam out of the American 1960's and everything changes, though not for the better in every case. No JFK assassination, likely no MLK assassination. And then that question comes up..... what happens to the US and the world if MLK lives past 1968?

If JFK doesn't get assassinated, then his little bro RFK, and MLK as well, may all survive to have a bigger impact on the world. In fact, perhaps we could see RFK as President in '72.....maybe with Jimmy Carter as VP?

B-Movies have been my thing for a while. Also, EMK would make an interesting Prez as well.
